About Mark Ellis

In February 2016, Mark Ellis was appointed President and Chief Operating Officer, Time Inc. Sales and Marketing.  In this role he manages all US advertising sales teams including Category, Brand and Digital.  His teams cover over 3,000 accounts and sell across all print and digital advertising products and platforms, including iconic brands like People, Sports Illustrated, Fortune, Food & Wine and Essence and platforms like video, social and programmatic.

Ellis and team are responsible for driving revenue growth, providing brand, audience, cross platform, data-driven, holistic and agnostic Time Inc. solutions to marketers and advertising agencies in the United States.

Ellis rejoined Time Inc. in September 2014 after a 15-year absence from the company, during which time he held a variety of senior level positions.  Most recently he had been Vice President North American Sales and Global Partnerships at Yahoo since March 2011.  In that role he led the North American field sales team and focused on building digital marketing solutions for the top marketers and advertising agencies across North America.  Prior to that he had served since 2004 as Executive Vice President North American Sales at AOL, where he managed field sales, mid-market sales, account management and the agency development teams. Other prior roles include Senior Vice President Corporate Sales at IMG during 2001–2004 and Senior Vice President Sales at digital sports start-up Quokka Sports in 1999–2001.

Earlier in his career Ellis held various management positions at Time Inc., including Publisher of Time Inc. New Media, Sports Illustrated Custom Publishing Director and Detroit Manager for Sports Illustrated. He began his career in Detroit working on automotive business for advertising agency Kenyon & Eckhart.

Ellis earned an undergraduate degree in marketing from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from the University of Detroit.  He is a Detroit native and splits his time between Detroit and New York City.  He is married, the father of three children and  He serves on a variety of advisory boards and industry organizations, including the Internet Advertising Bureau, the American Advertising Federation and the NY Ad Club.
