MGH has consistently supported the development of workforce D&I initiatives as part of the organization’s forwarding thinking culture of diversity, inclusion, engagement, and retention. The MGH Diversity Committee which includes the President of the hospital and members of senior leadership has recently approved the funding of a talent pipeline development strategy that will systematically advance the professional development of diverse staff across role levels in the institution and increase our level of engagement with underrepresented communities of color through strategic community outreach.
Strategies: The rollout of a community based “Pop-up” HR office which will allow recruiters and managers to engage with potential applicants where they live and help to foster and deepen our relationships within communities of color. Increased funding for external leadership and professional development programming which allows us to broaden access to external career growth opportunities for employees. The funding of a new customer relationship management system that will help us to track and assess our professional development and hiring efforts of high potential staff and applicants and provide key quantitative data to measure the effectiveness of our pipeline development initiatives. Funds to support the hiring of additional HR staff which in turn will support our expanded talent pipeline development strategies.
The growth, engagement, and job satisfaction of our employees (and patients) is integral to the MGH mission and is evident in the leadership support of recent and past D&I initiatives which makes MGH a deserving candidate for the Rosoff Award.
