Rockland Trust

Companies

Employees come to Rockland Trust with a wide variety of diversity. We believe these differences contribute to greater creativity, better insights, and strategic decision-making.

Our vision is to be the bank Where Each Relationship Matters. This is more than a tagline; it’s a deeply valued belief that all colleagues share. It is important to us that colleagues and customers feel cared for, respected and welcomed at Rockland Trust. Changing demographics in our region and country create a calling for us to honor and increase diversity as it is critical to fulfill our promises we make to our colleagues, customers, communities and shareholders.

We began our journey more than 15 years ago with focus groups and since then hundreds of colleagues have attended numerous “Unconscious bias and Micro-inequity” sessions companywide, we have supported participation in the Partnership and hosted 9 years of “An Evening of Culture” a program focused on providing education, awareness and inclusion. Additionally 4 Employee Resource Groups were created for diversity & inclusion, advancing women, promoting, financial literacy and wellness and supporting the LGBT community. Our experience from listening, learning and acting taught us the importance of developing a culturally competent workforce where concepts such as “Cultural Agility” inspires trust between colleagues and customers.

Furthermore, our efforts to advance women in the workplace as part of the Governor’s Challenge has progressed steadily. We partnered with Bentley Professors to lead classes in finance, strategy and leadership. Since 2015 the percentage of women on the board went up from 17% to 20%, Executive Team from 9% to 40% and Senior Leadership Team from 22% to 39%. Recently earned the 2017 Women on Boards Winning Company Award and a spot on the Boston Globe’s Top Place to Work for the 9th straight year. While we are humbled by the recognition we resolve to keep the effort front and center.
