Lucas Escobar
Hill Holliday
Originally from Colombia, Lucas came to Boston for college and began working at Hill Holliday directly after graduating. Although he joined my team in the Account Management department, it quickly became clear that Lucas’ drive and creativity went far beyond the norms of what we consider “Account Management.” Working on the Dunkin’ account, he ideated the building of a Virtual Dunkin’ Store to showcase POP materials before they went to press, test new store layouts and menu board designs. As Dunkin’ embraced a multi-cultural consumer, he pitched a new creative and strategic approach in which insights for the Hispanic community were pulled into product briefs. This resulted in Hill Holliday acquiring the Hispanic business and executing Hispanic creative.
Lucas pushes both the clients and HH to evolve in an ever-changing cultural atmosphere and industry. He appropriately challenges clients and internal team members to do the same. As my direct report for 5 years, I often recall a moment when I said to him, “Stop challenging me.” He quickly responded, “No. I’m never going to stop challenging you and you should never stop challenging me. In here [Hill Holliday], we are playing a game of a Tennis with each other, but out there, we are the best doubles team on the court.” It’s hard to summarize how outstanding this individual is in 250 words or less, but I think that quote from him does a pretty good job.
