Bison is an innovative software company working to develop an indispensable suite of business intelligence tools for the front offices of the private markets fund operators and investors. They have chosen to make Resilient Coders their predominant pipeline for early-stage talent for their Boston-based engineering team. This is exceptional, given that they are an early stage startup. In other words, they’ve decided to make diversity a foundational element in their talent acquisition strategy, and *start* diverse, rather than wait until they have to implement an effort to *become* diverse. In an age when most companies are blogging, tweeting, and otherwise talking about diversity while not actually hiring for diversity, Bison is a notable exception. Without fanfare or blog post, they are leading the way in defining what it means to start a company in the 21st century. We would do well to elevate their example, such that it can be more prolifically followed.
