Mentor Award Winner

Mary Grimes Finley, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care

Mary Grimes Finley oversees and implements the development, delivery and evaluation of strategic training and organizational development interventions in support of Harvard Pilgrim’s business goals. She functions as a Senior Internal Consultant to enhance the management, engagement and development of employees linked to business goals, plans, designs and facilitates interventions and training that develop and enhance manager and team effectiveness and/or improve business processes, and facilitates or coaches others to facilitate a wide variety of developmental events.

Mary is as committed to mentoring diverse candidates externally as she is internally at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. She also has a track record of volunteering for community programs that are particularly devoted to the development and mentoring of young people – in particular, the YMCA Achievers Program/ Young Achievers program, where she delivers the annual orientation to the program and provides support through workshops like interview skills. She also has a continuing relationship with The Partnership, an organization committed to the development of professionals of Color.

Mary is a tireless volunteer mentor. She advises those she works with to make the most of their opportunities. She is enthusiastic about helping people develop – helping them see their strengths even when they don’t think they have any. She is committed to giving back to the community as well and is willing to do whatever! She brings the same enthusiasm whether she’s greeting people or holding the microphone. She takes a genuine interest in individuals, is accessible and is truly invested in providing meaningful support.

Mary is sincerely an outstanding role model. A professional of color who is actively giving back and paying forward. She is tireless in her commitment to the development of others – and has a particularly important role in the development of professionals of color. We now have a majority minority city and need to see positive examples of leadership.
