Dr. Gregory Harris
Associate Medical Director for Behavioral Health, Blue Cross Blue Shield of MA
I am a board-certified adult Psychiatrist with training in psychiatry integrated in primary care settings, substance use disorders and public health. I started my career in integrated primary care practice at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston and was an early adopter of health information technology in clinical practice. I am strongly committed to both individual and systems concerns, and advocated for mental health parity, fairness in access to mental health services and on payment reform, both locally and nationally for over 20 years. I have been active in organized medicine since my residency training, both at both the local level (I currently serve as Vice Chair of Interspecialty at the Massachusetts Medical Society and am a Past President of the Massachusetts Psychiatric Society) and national levels (I currently serve as Chair of the Committee on RBRVS, Coding and Reimbursement of the American Psychiatric Association and am an Alternate Representative to the Relative Value Update Committee of the American Medical Association). I have given expert testimony to state and national legislators and served on several state task forces regarding technology, mental health parity and health policy issues. I have also served as an independent expert advisor and consultant to providers, health plans and individual providers on issues of technology adoption, mental health parity and coverage for mental health services. I recently became a member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine and became board eligible in the new Addition Medicine board through a practice pathway. I currently serve as Associate Medical Director for Behavioral Health at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts and continue to see outpatients in my small clinical practice in Brookline, MA.
