PASSION:

John has always been a strong advocate of LGBTQ+ youth – especially after living in a small town in AL that wasn’t a friendly place for members of that community. He’s found a way to mentor students and use his creativity to do it.

 

IMPACT:

He serves on the board of directors for the Point Foundation, which is the nation’s largest LGBTQ+ scholarship and leadership development program. The foundation provides economic assistance, community service programming and mentoring support to young leaders looking to make an impact on society and advance equality. Over the last 7 years John has spearheaded fundraisers and awareness campaigns to ensure that LGBTQ+ youth have more chances than he did.

John is also currently the chair of the board of directors for ArtsBoston. Their mission is to support and grow the arts and cultural sector of Greater Boston. Through a range of audience diversification, research, and development programs, ArtsBoston and its 175 member organizations encourage participation in the arts and demonstrate the sector’s positive economic and social impact.
