Byron Morgan

Strategist
MullenLowe

PASSION:

What do you get when you mix a board game maker from Hasbro, a podcaster, and an entrepreneur? You get a strategist named Byron. He nerds out on community organizing, and believes that it’s key for brands to do the same to stay culturally relevant.

IMPACT:

During his first year at MullenLowe, the need for more Black people in the advertising community of Boston was very apparent. So, Byron started an organization at MullenLowe called Black@MullenLowe that provided both the support and resources to grow and develop Black hires who embodied the challenger mindset within the agency and aspired to be senior leaders. But it wasn’t just about recruitment and retention, it was to help the agency as a whole to push more diverse, culturally, intuitive work into the world for our clients.

Outside of shaping the agencies D&I work and cultural initiatives, he spends his free time persuading people over coffee, one cup at a time, about the power of community media. Through his work with the Somerville Media Center and the Boston Institute for Non-profit Journalism, he produces a podcast and community programming that serves as a medium for musicians, gamers, and activists to intersect, publish content independently, and raise awareness about the looming threat of government defunding of public access media.
