The goal of the McGoldrick Marketing campaign for the Mystic Valley Area chapter of the NAACP is to increase self-confidence in young African-American men, while dispelling some preconceived opinions that may exist in the general public. All of the statistics quoted are factual and have been obtained from sources such as the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the U.S. Department of Education, among others.

We created a 30-second PSA using actual statistics, that people are not aware of, beginning with three African-American young men looking directly at the camera. One says, “I am a statistic”, continuing with, “I am the one out of three who will go to college.” The PSA continues with progressively larger groups of young African-American men stating other positive statistics about themselves.

This PSA has had people talking since it first appeared online, and is now airing on TV. “Statistic” has been the subject of thought-provoking articles in the Boston Globe, CNN.com, The Medford Transcript and Jet Magazine.

NAACP Connect, the official social networking hub for ACT-SO and the Youth & College Division, has co-opted the PSA by adding their own ending and re-posting it on their Facebook page. As of this writing , it has been viewed over 24,000 times and shared over 1,100 times.
