DigitasLBi is a global marketing and technology agency that transforms businesses for the digital age. The company boasts teams that serve in a wide range of capacities such as digital marketing, advertising and brand strategy.

As Senior Technology Analyst, MacCalvin’s role is a unique blend of technology and business within the advertising space. MacCalvin is tasked to create and manage the building of online applications for Fortune 500 clients across various platforms and devices. He collaborates with internal account managers and clients to consult and provide technical strategic direction in an effort to produce innovative marketing and strategic branding experiences for consumers.

Aside from his day to day work, MacCalvin is responsible for heading a partnership with the local non-profit program Citizen Schools, which strives to educate middle school children and strengthen communities by engaging with working professionals. As an alumnus of the program, MacCalvin gives back to his community and his passion for mentorship is evident through his years of service, teaching over 200 students in local Boston and Chelsea schools. MacCalvin teaches computer programming once-a-week, in an effort to build student’s communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills. Showcasing his passion as a technologist, he shows students the connections between what they learn in school and the career opportunities that await them.

Aside from his community mentorship efforts, MacCalvin’s mentorship efforts also impact those in the Digitas office. MacCalvin leads Perspectives, a diversity affinity group that supports the professional growth of minorities at Digitas and provides mentorship to its membership. MacCalvin serves as mentor for junior staff as well as reverse mentor for senior leadership in an effort to bridge the gap and encourage transparency and communication across the company.

MacCalvin’s intention of working with middle school students is to foster relationships with the children from the community, to encourage them to complete high school, and to inspire them to pursue college degrees. These efforts effectively increase the number of students from underrepresented communities who will graduate and be in a position to move into management roles in the future, and potentially consider technology or advertising careers. MacCalvin has been volunteering and teaching middle school students for more than 4 years, each of whom have gone on to a college-track high school, and several of whom have already been accepted to four year colleges with plans of exploring technology or business careers.
