Luis Echeverri has over 12 years of experience in the insurance industry in the Boston area. Most recently, he accepted a position in the renewable energy industry sector by joining the Italian multinational, Enel Green Power, as Director of Insurance Management. In his current role, he oversees all insurance needs and risk management of renewable energy plants across North America. Luis also serves as a Teaching Fellow at Harvard University, in which he supports approximately 100 students per term.

Luis clearly goes beyond the scope of his professional duties to mentor others, investing his own personal time and asking nothing in return. He has an impressive track record of volunteering for community programs, especially ones devoted to education, as well as mentorship programs, and the advancement of young individuals.

He has an ongoing and long-term volunteer relationship with two organizations which allow him to offer his mentorship to many. Those organizations are Year Up, where he is apart of the Leadership Council, acting as a mentor and tutor, and NSHMBA, where he currently sits on the Executive Board holding the position of VP Corporate Relations. Luis’ philanthropic leadership and mentoring approach has proven to be highly effective. He is always giving back and paying it forward.

His mentees are diverse candidates in community. The majority of the students at Year Up are part of unprivileged minorities here in Boston and members of the Hispanic community. This increases the impact of Luis’ contribution to the community in such a meaningful way.

Luis has exceeded as a community leader and mentor. His active efforts to promote the human welfare and mentorship can be evidenced by his active roles at Year Up and NSHMBA. During the past several years, Luis has proven his great philanthropic leadership by collaborating and supporting various educational initiatives.

The efforts with his mentees have produced great results and directly impacted the community. Luis has performed a key role on impacting positively the future of several mentees by helping them join the workforce in a sustainable and structured manner.

While mentoring these individuals at Year Up, Luis is also impacting the business community, as his mentees are adding value to the corporations after completing their Year Up program. Without mentors like Luis, these young adults would not obtain the necessary tools to add value to their community and families.

Luis’ commitment to serve the community has a very wide spectrum in the local society—at the same time he is serving and mentoring privileged individuals at MBA level, he also supports the urban young adults that he encourages and guide at Year Up to reach a better future for themselves, while closing the opportunity divide.
